It is a for profit institution and there are things to consider about the for profit model that I wish I knew. On the positive side, the school is well established and resourced with passionate and qualified teachers. I think GEMS has a uniquely warm and accepting culture, the kids are generally well behaved for the region. The new hires are well taken care of and arrive with groceries, housing, transportation and a tour of the city. Doha is a really great city for young families. It's great to travel from because of proximity to Europe and Asia. Doha can be expensive, but personal choices are a huge a factor and convenience fees add up. Again the for profit model comes with some drawbacks and decisions are made based on the bottom line rather than best practice.
