The school's overall environment is friendly and relaxed. The elementary team is quite cohesive and supportive. There is room for development and to ask questions to improve practice. Fridays afternoons are reserved for professional development or for planning. The house stipend does not cover the average rent for the area, which is above RM1500. One can find cheaper accommodation a bit further away from the school, but it would mean taking a taxi to and back from school, which would raise monthly expenses anyway. Everyone either drives or grabs a taxi to move around Kuching, or to explore areas a bit further away, so consider that in your monthly expenses. There is not much to do in Kuching except shopping, museums and cafes downtown. If you like to get out of town, you will need a car or book a taxi (Grab). The closes beach (Damai) is be between 45mins-1h away depending on traffic conditions. Population is between 4/600,000 depending on the sources, so roughly half a million. Quite crowded for a place that is considered small and quiet. Traffic can get intense as no one practically walks or cycles.
